Life in a small town
So..I'm at grad school and I'm done with class for the day. I have one of my 2 major projects due tomorrow at 8 pm..so what else would I do but blog? =)
After class ended today, I decided to go out to eat something (mainly because my stomach was having conversations of its own)..I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I dropped off my laptop bag, switched it for my purse and went out..I've been hanging out mainly on the west side of a main street here in town, so I thought I'd go to the east side...I walked along and apparently the east side, is alll the way east..all the way to asia that is..it had a chinese, thai, and korean restuarant, followed by an Indian restuarant..now I've been craving Indian since someone mentioned that they have a good Indian restuarant on the west side of the street, but that particular restuarant has been closed for renovation and won't open until January! So I was excited..I went in..looked at the menu..thought it was a bit expensive and decided not to get anything..I went to the corner store thinking I'd pick up something to eat for later ..when I was up at 3 in the morning..and then decided it would be better to eat first..eat it hot..then go get food..and then go home..so that's what I did..and I did go to the Indian restuarant..it was completely delicious and totally hit the spot..I actually ate an entire naan by myself (which never happens..I usually eat half and feel gluttonous (plus its about a foot long and 6 inches wide of basically white bread)..it was soo yummy and buttery..anyways..so I'm sitting there and there are other customers..there were 2 that almost gave away some HP details..but I told them to please don't! =)
Then a family of 4 came in..sat down..2 boys and their parents..they ordered chicken makhani, naan, rice, vegetable tandoori..mmmm..anyways..as they are waiting the littlest boy (must be about 3) was telling about the "highlight" of his day..when another boy feel down on the playground and got a big big big bigbig bigbibgibigibbig big BIG scrape and then got a big big bigibgibigbibgbgbgigibibgibgibigbigbigbbig big big b i g bandaid.
Too funny..then it gets better..cuz he's waiting for his food and he's like I want the white rice under the red chicken makkkhhhaannnii. The mother says, you want chicken makhani first and then the white rice on it? NO, the white rice, then the chicken maaakkkkhhhaannnniii over it. What cracks me up is that this boy was blonde haired and blue eyed..whiter than paper with little chubby red cheeks..it was SO cool that this family was so open to food and even in the small town had found it out.. VERY cool. Thumbs up mom and dad =)

LEEP!
LEEP!..eek! So far not so good. I took the train down. Started out with a little surprise..got to the train station and found out that the particular train I'm on does not check in items..so my gigantic red bag with a 12 pack of coke can't be checked in. So i'm like great, but not the end of the world..so dragged it around, got it on the train..took the train down, dragged it off. Got into a cab and came to the dorms. A little bit of a wait to check in and get keys etc. Got upstairs to my new broom closet. Smaller than my original dorm in undergrad..good times. Unpacked some stuff..then decided I was hungry..went out to get some food..got wings and beer (total $6.50!) and then some ice cream..there is no hand soap in the room so picked that up too..then did a little reading..talked to R and went to bed.
Then this morning it all went downhill....wa wa wa..so this morning I woke up..had a shower..my roommates had finally arrived..met them quickly and went to my first class..turned out it was just to get a packet of info..and had to go to the bookstore to get an ID..i got there and filled out my form but didn't have my id number..apparently my undergrad and grad number are the same..so i took out my undergrad id to find the number..and they TOOK AWAY MY OLD ID!!!!..the lady was like...i can give you the picture..so she cut that off and gave it to me..i was like I don't care if you cut it up or write void across it..i just want to keep it..and she was like we understand the sentimental value but we can't give it back to you because we'll lose our jobs..so they cut off my picture, gave it to me, and took my picture for the new one..so now I have only one for grad school..and no undergrad ID..and I guess this isn't that big of a deal to most..but I have all my high school ones..so I liked the idea of having my undergrad and my grad school one..i wish i'd never taken it out..i'm gonna try and see if i can get the rest of it even if it is in 2 pieces..
So..after that debacle (i know...my life is pathetic)..went to orientation..pretty routine..this is where all this stuff is..come ask us if you need help..met many of the staff as well..then went on the walking tour..mind you..it's a nice cloudy rainy day..it was barely drizzling..so i figured..it'll be fine..then it got a little harder..then we went into a building..still raining when we came out..went a little farther..more rain..went into another building..still raining..and as we walked on it got rainier and rainier and rainier..finally decided..ok..my shirt and jeans are soaked thru..time to go get my bag..which has my umbrella in it..and go back to the dorm..got to the dorm and changed clothes..had a little bit of a muffin..read a little..and then came back to the next workshop..which I'm sitting in now..as you can tell..it's fascinating..it's an intro to leep technology..so as most of it has seemed pretty straight forward..its been pretty easy..just listening here and there.
